The Age of Domination
Feature essay published in SMUT Magazine, Spring 2006

My friends, the friends of my friends, they ask their friends to ask me if I can get them a job. I refuse. It is too seductive, the fantasy, the indulgence of our most desperate egotism; it does not require a previous history of damage or wayward sexual tendencies, perhaps only a suppressed urge to conform to the erotic obsessions of others. This is not rare. Our culture cultivates in us a capacity for shape-shifting, a submerged faith that if all else fails, if who we are is not good enough, or desirable enough, we can always become something better, something bigger; we can always become what they want us to be.
